Nacional reports that Chelsea are interested in the transfer of Real Madrid and Brazil defender Eder Militao.
The 23-year-old has become an important part of the Los Blancos squad this season, rising in the absence of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, who both left the club in the summer.
He joined from Porto in 2019 aged just 21 and has made over 50 appearances for the club since then.
Thomas Tuchel has been linked with the January move of several bound midfielders, including Sevilla’s Jules Conde and Juventus’s Matisse de Ligt.
The blues may be looking in the market for a defender due to contracts dwindling in ranks. Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are all free to leave in the summer if they do not sign an extension to the club.
Rudiger has previously been linked with a move to Madrid in a summer transfer for Bosmann, but the Germany international has also expressed his delight at Stamford Bridge for the time being.
The report claims that Tuchel made a €40m (£34m) bid for Militao, which was rejected by Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.
The Brazil international is said to be making €4.5m a year (£3.8m) on his current deal, a salary seen as low for his importance in the team.
In an effort to prevent the Blues from making another bid, Perez is said to be willing to offer a new deal and raise wages for the defender.
