GEOFF HURST LOVES Cristiano Ronaldo for his technical ability, dedication and demeanor to the beautiful game.
However, when it comes to handing over his money, the knighted England striker would rather pay to watch George Best.
This is for the Belfast boy’s innate talent, boldness and attitude towards beautiful women.
Hearst, 79, names both Manchester United icons as inspirations in a book to celebrate his upcoming birthday – eighty at 80.
He said: “Ronaldo is one of the greatest people who have ever played this game.
“The reason for his success is that he has taken good care of himself in terms of his discipline – a vital component, especially over time and especially at his age now. It’s incredible.
“George has had a very short career compared to Ronaldo 20 years or so. But I would probably choose George as someone I would pay to watch Ronaldo marginally.
“Ronaldo’s long-term performance is far superior to Basti. This man has scored 20 individual goals in 20 years.
“But it was the horrible things that George did. How he beats people. It will be soon.

“Perhaps I prefer Bestie because I met him and had a drink with him in a Manchester nightclub after the match, sat at his table and enjoyed their company, seeing all the women walking by his table and looking at him all night long!
“If I offered to meet Ronaldo for a night out, he would probably say, ‘Who the hell is he? Why would I want to meet an 80-year-old?’”
He best challenged his alcoholism to play until he was 37, although many considered him burnt long before that.
Ronaldo is 36 years old but seems indefatigable – just like winning now as always and never putting time limits on his career.
Top 470 appearances with United, Ronaldo barely scratched 200 in two stints with the biggest club in England.
World Cup winner Hearst said: “But you have to admire his demeanor and discipline. He leads the way in that.
“My father has given me so much, he has instilled a work ethic and dedication.
“If I was playing and Ronaldo was coming into my team, knowing he has 100 million followers on Snapchat, Facebook or Instagram, I wouldn’t think for a second that it would be nice to play alongside. It’s exciting.
“Sometimes I look at top players and think they’re not good. They charge $50,000 a week, and I think they’re not good professionals, they let themselves down.
“He’s a player with a different style than Best. Let’s be fair. In terms of the header, Ronaldo is great.
“He’s in the category of some of the great goalscorers of all time. Go back to my era and Tommy Lawton, people like that.
“There was a question mark over this move. It’s not about selling shirts but doubting whether it was the right move for the club and whether he could perform. But he still smashed goals and got them out of trouble.
“There was no doubt for a second that it was wrong to come back.
“George had a very different attitude. But for a short period, an incredibly short career for a great player, by the way, he was simply fantastic.”
