Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been warned that not even Cristiano Ronaldo can save him from the sack.
Having started the season in great fashion, Manchester United and the Norwegian coach were under heavy pressure in the wake of the heavy and humiliating 5-0 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool.
Inspired by Ronaldo, the Old Trafford giants responded to that worrying setback with a 3-0 win over Tottenham, which they followed with a 2-2 draw in Bergamo.
That point was handed to them by a double from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
However, with all eyes now turned to the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon, these iconic Ronaldo goals are just an inevitable delay – according to Liverpool’s John Barnes.
United have stood by their manager amid suggestions that Antonio Conte is ready to replace him.
Fast-forward to the present, though, and the Italian moved up to Tottenham after he sacked the London side Nuno Espirito Santo, and in turn made a real statement appointing Conte as his successor.
The former England international Barnes spoke as part of the promotion for the betting bonus code, saying: “Cristiano Ronaldo is not keeping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Manchester United job, as his goals will not win the Premier League or the Champions League.

“It gave them a little bit of hope, but I don’t think Ronaldo’s scoring will save Ole if they don’t win matches.
“They have to start performing constantly. Ronaldo will not keep Solskjaer in this position – and he will not get sent off. The question mark against Ole is the inconsistency.”
